Ronald William Lukkari, age 81, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at his home on Courtney Lake.
Ronald was born in Mass City, MI to Toivo & Jennie (Heinonen) Lukkari on December 29, 1938. Beloved father of children: Jeffery Lukkari, Brian (Rosalie) Lukkari, and Melanie Lukkari. He graduated from Mass High School in 1957.
He served in the United States Army Signal Corp. as a Sped-4 Class from 1958 to 1960. He worked with his brothers as a partner in Lukkari Bros. General Contracting from 1961 to 1971. He then worked as a superintendent and manager for various contractors before retiring from Gundlach Champion Inc. on June 7th, 1999. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, going to camp and spending time with family and friends. He was proud of his Finnish heritage and was a proud Yooper.
Ronald is survived by his sons Jeffery and Brian, and daughter Melanie. Grandchildren: Jarrod Lukkari, Severina (David) Wehr, Jais Lukkari and Charleigh Farmer. He is preceded in death by his parents Toivo & Jennie, brothers: Hubert and Robert.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11th from 6-8 pm at Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon. Funeral service and burial will take place on Friday, June 12th at 12 noon at the Rousseau Cemetery, with Pastor Jay Welshonse of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating.
Pallbearers will be Duane Lukkari, Todd Lukkari, Darren Lukkari, Shawn Lukkari, Brendan Lukkari and Charles Smith.
