Tim Schmaus Obituary

Timothy John Schmaus, 58, of Ontonagon, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, August 24th 2021 at the Spearfish Regional Hospital in Spearfish, South Dakota.

Tim was born in Ontonagon to George and Sherry Schmaus on May 20th 1963. He graduated from the Ontonagon Area Jr/Sr High School in 1981 and was well known for his very talented carpentry skills since graduating.

Tim was very passionate about his work but on his down time he loved hunting, fishing and golfing with his father George and his son TJ, spending time on video calls with his youngest grand-baby Lynzie, going to camp with his buddies and beating everyone at pool.

Tim is survived by his 4 children; daughters Kristina and Karla Picotte and Tara Lin Latvis, all of Ontonagon and his son Timothy John Schmaus Jr of Loveland, Colorado. His sisters Cindy (Dave) Schmidt of Atlantic Mine, Mi and Pam (Richard) Franti of Ontonagon. He is also survived by his father George Schmaus of Ontonagon, his 3 grandchildren; Kinsey Picotte (20), Joseph Kendall (12) and Lynzie Lin Schmaus (8) all of Ontonagon. His nephews; Jason Franti (Gretchen) of Roxeyville, Virginia and Jimmer Schmidt (Lindsay Wendt) of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. His nieces; Michele Franti (Nate) of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin and Kristen Schmidt of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He is preceded in death by his mother Sherry (McCarthy) Schmaus, maternal grandparents John and Beatrice McCarthy and his paternal grandparents George and Hilda Schmaus.

Visitation will be held at 12pm (noon) with a graveside service to follow at 1pm on Saturday, September 11th, 2021 at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Rockland, Michigan with Pastor Pete LeMoine officiating.

A celebration of life and pot luck luncheon will follow the services at Stubb’s Museum Bar in Ontonagon.
