Victoria Beck Obituary

Victoria Ann Beck, age 71 of Ontonagon, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her husband and children on Thursday May 23rd, 2019 at the Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital’s Long Term Care Unit.

Vickie was born on June 8, 1947 in Litchfield, MN to Robert and Lorraine (Wimmer) Kleis. She was the eldest of 6 children. She attended school in Litchfield, MN and later in Butte, MT. Over the course of her life, she worked a variety of jobs, but was most proud of being a wife, and a mother to her 6 children. She worked for many years as a waitress and cook at Wagar’s restaurant in Ontonagon. Her work as a CENA, activities aide, and restorative aide at Maple Manor Nursing Center touched the lives of many.

Throughout the years, Vickie enjoyed many family get togethers and picnics at Lake Superior and Bond Lake, and with her beloved Minnesota family at Lake Washington in Darwin, MN. She loved country music, bird watching, and taking road trips with her husband Jerry. She loved to cook, a talent she learned from her beloved mother, Lorraine. She could make a feast from the most basic of pantry staples, and made the best potato salad that was enjoyed by many, but has been replicated by few.

Vickie is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Gerald Beck; her children, Gina (Jeff) Rule of Ontonagon; Lisa (Scott) Mulder of Denver, CO; Robert Mulder of Box Elder, SD; Glen (Heather) Beck of Ontonagon; Michelle Beck, of Ontonagon; and Kari (Chris) Ross of Ontonagon; her 13 grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Ryan (Rachael) Kaiponen, Noah and Whitney Rule, Austen Mulder, Bryce Paschke, Adam and Wyatt Domitrovich, Isaiah, Logan and Kanin Beck, and Carly and Brielyn Ross; and 2 great-grandchildren, Jacen Mulder and Declan Paschke. Her brother Roger Beeman of Utah also survives.

Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lorraine; her siblings Barbara Jean Baker, Ralph, Randy, and Billy Joe Beeman; her first husband, Dennis Mulder; granddaughter Lauren Victoria Beck; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held to honor Vickie’s memory at 12:00 noon on Friday May 31, 2019 at the Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon, Father Michael Jacobus officiating. Friends may pay respects one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Ontonagon. A luncheon will take place at the Ontonagon VFW Post after the burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Activities Fund at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital’s Long Term Care Unit.

Our family wishes to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the doctors, nurses, CENAs and staff of the AOH Long Term Care Unit and Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital , for the loving care provided to our mom over the years. Your kindness and compassion goes above and beyond.
