Wilfred Joseph Wing

Wilfred Joseph (Bill) Wing, 84, of Bruce Crossing, Michigan passed away on July 24, 2023. Bill was born July 30, 1938 in Dearborn, Michigan. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1957 and enlisted in the United States Army after graduation. He served three years as a Morse Intercept Operator at Fort Devon's MA and in Europe.

He married Cathy Neumann on September 12, 2003. Together they have 7 children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening with his wife, Cathy. He was an active member of the community including a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Watersmeet, Michigan. He was also a trustee on the Stannard Township Board, a life member of the Knights of Columbus and the Veterans Organization both in Ontonagon. He drove a van for the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and was a member of the American Legion Post 92 in Rockland, Michigan.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred Sr. and Gertrude (nee Donovan) Wing. He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy, and family members Ann Marie & Mike Nowacki of Schererville, IN; Mike & Claudia Wing of Dyer, IN; Tim & Tina Wing of Demotte, IN; John Wing of Gary, IN; Bill & Sharon Smith of The Villages, FL; David & Evelyn Marshall of Keeseville, NY; Tom & Cindy Wing of Marion, OH; Trisha Haapala of Ewing, MI; Jim & Summer Vrell of Milan, IL; Travis & Lindsey Thom of Kingsford, MI; Bob & Rae Jean Brownell of Watersmeet, MI; John & Cheryl Neumann of Watersmeet, MI; Bill Neumann of Watersmeet, MI and Don & Mary Ann Bolich of Ironwood, MI.

The Cane Funeral Home of Bruce Crossing is assisting the family. A Funeral Mass will be held July 29th, 11 am, at Immaculate Conception Church in Watersmeet with a memorial service to follow at his sons' home in Kenton.
