Tracy Lee (Huotari) Martens, 45 of Ahmeek, was yet another beautiful angel taken from us too soon, by the Lord, on Friday, December 18, 2015.
Tracy was born January 10, 1970 in L’Anse to Waino and Bernice Huotari. She graduated from the Ontonagon Area Schools with the Class of 1988. Tracy married Steven Martens on November 1, 2008 in Mowhawk, MI.
Tracy was an avid Detroit Tigers fan, and rooted for the Lions as well, taking after her father. She was so happy to see her Tigers play at Comerica Park (especially J.D.) this past summer. She faithfully watched every game she could. Tracy also loved to play Scrabble and cards with her mother and the rest of her family. She enjoyed going to the mouth of the Gratiot on Lake Superior to build a campfire and look for agates. She loved spring, especially the smell of lilacs in bloom. Tracy also had a green thumb. She was a kindred soul, devoted to making the lives around her better in any way she could. Tracy was nurturing, caring, smart and sassy, and blessed with an abundance of SISU!
Tracy did a lot of handwork and crafts, and was especially proud of the baby blanket and other items she made in eager anticipation of her first grandchild, a grandson Declan Leigh Burick, due on March 3, 2016. She was very excited and happily awaiting his birth.
She is survived by her husband Steven; son Dustin (Kelly Riutta) Burick; mother Bernice; brother Todd (Lisa) Huotari; sisters Tammy (Corey Cromell) Huotari, Tina Huotari, and Tricia (Scott) Cleary; mother-in-law Cornelia (Martens) Hart; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Tracy was preceded in death by her father Waino; sister Terry Anne; infant brother Timmy John; grandparents and father-in-law Walter Martens.
A Memorial Service for Tracy will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Mass City, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. The Cane Funeral Home is assisting the family.
