I first learned of John's passing when I read his obituary in the Ontonagon Herald. For over 50 years he was a good neighbor to my parents and to myself. During the early 1960's we sat together on the school bus. Later, our mothers took turns driving us to confirmation class. He was viewed as kind and caring by those who knew him, and they are many. His photo captures his nature so well. My sympathy to his family.

I was so saddened to hear of John passing away. I have fond childhood memories of John as our farm was next to his and of the many hours we played as kids. My prayers for John's family and friends.

John had no idea of the love and respect he had from all of the people in our area. Always willing to give anyone a helping hand. Just getting over losing Sonny Ark and Dave Aho and now we lose him too. Will always remember bringing him to Baraga back in the late 70's to the arm wrestling tournament where he won first place in the heavyweight division. I invited all the local gals to come and have a drink with the heavyweight CHAMP. .He and brother Joe went to school together and were an unbeatable combo in the woods.

John was truly one of a kind, such a large suture of a man but as kind and soft as a teddy bear. He will be missed by many. John is not gone by any means because he lives on in his two children and his grandchildren.
