Nancy Kay Geist-Tuomi

Nancy K. Geist-Tuomi, 77 of Ontonagon, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital.

Nancy was born January 14, 1938 in Ontonagon to Alvin and Mina (Hartzell) Geist. She grew up on the shores of Lake Superior in the house her father built. She loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed camping at Courtney Lake. She loved all animals, particularly ducks, and bred Shelties for a time. Nancy was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #2239 for over 50 years.

She is survived by her husband, Walter; children Connie Morton of Ellensburg WA, Cheryl (Mark) Magee of Moncks Corner SC, Cindy (David) Thompson of Renton WA, Cathy Armour of Ironwood, Dayle (Tom) LaBine of Ontonagon and Ben (Jen) Mattson of Fond du lac WI; grandchildren Samson (Sarah) Hanan, Maxim Morton, Matthew (Miriam) Magee, Michael Magee, Kevin Thompson, Keith Thompson, Kurt Thompson, Arel Armour, Troy (Donna) Armour, Kyla LaBine, Kaleena (Anthony) Netzel and Alec Tomlinson; great-grandchildren Elise, Mark, Gage, Mason and Adrian; sisters Patty (Jerry) Preiss and Betty (Dale) Parent; stepchildren Laura (Duane) Roehm of Menominee, Dawn Tuomi of St. Petersburg FL, Gail (Bob) Peterson of Ontonagon, Darren (Traci) Tuomi of White Pine and Melanie Tuomi of Detroit; stepgrandchildren Jillian Roehm, Cody Roehm, Melissa (Joel) Seehefer, Rachel Tuomi, Ryan Peterson, Desiree Tuomi, Heather Solberg, Mitchell Butina and Dylan Butina; stepgreat-grandchildren Bronson, Danae, Maddox and Kingston; sister-in-law Kathy Geist; aunts Betty Pollard and Delema Forrest; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Alvin and Mina; brother Bill Geist; sisters Judy McLean and Sally White; stepson Steven Tuomi; niece Jennifer Parent and nephew Michael Geist.

A Memorial Service for Nancy will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 11 am at the Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon. Visitation will begin at 10 am. Inurnment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery.
