I am sad to hear of Ronalds passing and about his struggle with ALS. I didn't know Ron well as I was considerably younger than him. However, Ron, as one of the older kids in the neighborhood, was respected for his (what seemed like) quiet confidence, leadership and determination he showed to we younger ones.
My condolences to his wife and family, and brothers: Robert and Dan and to Sister: Kathleen.

It is with Great memories shadowed by sadness to hear about our nieghborhood friend. We sure did have a lot of fun, even back then, doing all of the things boys like to do.
Take care

Ron was our shortstop when I played with him on the Tubby's teams back in the 70's. We started as a bunch of greenhorns, but won the League Championship within 2 years. Later became his next door neighbor and car pooled to the mine with him where we both served as Union Stewards. You didn't want to mess with him in a game of 8 ball. Prayers going out to the family.

Lots of great memories playing softball for Tubby's Misfits back in the 70's where we progressed from a bunch if greenhorns to League Champs in just a couple years. Ron was our shortstop and one of the leaders on the team who kept us younger guys in line. Worked and car-pooled with him at the White Pine Mine where we were both Union Stewards. Also a great next door neighbor who let me use some of his property for a garden. And don't mess with him in a pool game. Ron, we never were able to drink all the beer in the refrigerators in the Union Hall, but it wasn't for lack of trying. RIP.
