I knew Walt while serving in the U.S. Army, 1st Infantry Division, in Vietnam, 1965-'66. He was the "workin'est" guy I ever saw; seemed to have almost unlimited energy. A good man, good-natured, unpretentious; a good friend. I did not find out until today, Aug. 30, about his passing. My condolences to his family and friends.

To Walter's Family: We were classmates at Suomi (Sept. 1958-June 1959) in Hancock. He commuted from Mass each day. He will be remembered as a decent,
honorable classmate. It's sad to lose them, which is happening more often these days!
May God be with each of you now & in the coming days! You have my heartfelt sympathy!

Rest in His holy peace Uncle Sonny. We will miss you. Having a bowl of cheerios in your honor tonight (like when I was a kid with you). See you again someday soon.
Our prayers are with the whole Ark clan as well. He's in a better place than us. Love you all.

My sympathy to Sonny's family and friends.
Sonny was a bit older than I. But, I do remember playing basketball with him and some of the older guys.

We've lost another classmate. I'm sorry I couldn't make my trip to Michigan in 2015...but visited with Sonny on my last trip in 2014. I will be there in spirit...at my Rousseau Bar.
Condolences to all.

I first remember Sonny as a quick guard on the Mass High basketball team. They had a good team but unfortunately played in the same era as Don Mattson and the Chassell Panthers who won 3 straight Class D State Championshps. Became great friends with him and his wife Denise before and after he retired from the Coast Guard. Sonny was an active member of our VFW Post 4167 and even served a year on the State VFW Honor Guard. He will be missed.
