Mary Louise (Rubich) Turin

May 8, 1934 ~ July 18, 2016 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Surrounded by her loved ones, Mary Lou Turin passed away on July 18, 2016 at Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock, MI after her courageous  battle with cancer. 

She was born in Ontonagon, MI on May 8, 1934 to the late Michael & Louise (Desormeau) Rubich. Mary Lou graduated from Ontonagon Area Schools in 1952. After graduation she moved to Wyandotte, MI & worked at Great Lakes Steel. Mary Lou moved back to the area to take care of her father who had fallen ill. She then worked in the clerical department of Turner Construction in White Pine, MI as well as other area business'. Later she was a care giver to several elderly friends in the Ontonagon area. For the last 19 years, Mary Lou assisted her daughter Carrie with her day care in Houghton, MI where she was known as Grandma Mary to the children.

On October 2, 1954 she was united in marriage to William Turin, also know as "over the hill Bill". Mary Lou was a special lady with a heart of gold and a kind word to say about everyone. She was an active member of the Greenland Catholic Church and later St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rockland where she was a member of the church guild.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, sister Theresa Rubich, and numerous brother and sister-in-laws.

She is survived by her husband William of Mass City, MI, daughter Carrie (Joe) Lentowich of Houghtonn, MI, son Terry (Karla) Turin of Midland, MI, son Allen (Sue) Turin of Greenland, MI, brother Mike Rubich of Ontonagon, MI, sister Dorothy Wainio of Bruce Crossing, MI, grandchildren Courtney & Casey Lentowich & Brittany & Brooke Turin,  sister in laws Rita Turin, Jan Downing, Margie Schires & Christine Turin, extended family Jill, Spencer & Colleen & numerous nieces & nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday,, July 22nd at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rockland. Friends may call at the church from Noon until the time of the service. Internment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Greenland.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Houghton County Medical Care Facility for their loving and wonderful care.
